Citizens for Humanity awarded to the Moorebank High School

Dr Sev Ozdowski, President ACHRE, has presented a Citizens for Humanity Certificate to the year 11 and 12 Legal Studies students of Moorebank High School for their commitment to and knowledge of human rights issues.

Year 12 students, under the leadership of their HSIE Teacher Ms Mai Ni Pham have just completed a unit on World Order (international law relating to war, conflict, UN, courts and ad hoc tribunals). The year 11 students focus at this moment at the basic information about human rights protection systems both in Australia and internationally.

Dr Ozdowski was asked to address the students about human rights situation in Australia and in particular to talk about his 2004 report about ‘Children in Immigration Detention’ and the current developments regarding asylum seekers in Asia-Pacific region.
