Conversations in Peace

17 November 2015

The book launch of Conversations in Peace, on August 11th 2015 at Gleebooks saw a gathering of 200 people – thank you to all ACHRE members who could attend!

According to the editors – Lynda-ann Blanchard and Hannah Middleton – a primary reason for publishing this significant text is as a tool for human rights and peace education. “Every university and school library in Australia needs a copy on their shelf!”  ConversationsinPeacebookcover_JUNE2015

The first 14 lectures of the Sydney Peace Prize (1998-2011) include Nobel Laureates Muhammad Yunus and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former leader of Amnesty International Irene Khan. These inspiring individuals aspire to a future in which respect for human rights is universal and unchallenged. In highly creative ways they show how poverty can be eradicated, nonviolence embraced, the rich and powerful persuaded that peace with justice is precious, and that violence of any kind is not only contrary to any notion of a common humanity, but also serves no purpose.
