His excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) has accepted the invitation of the Australian Council for Human Rights Education (ACHRE) to become Patron-in-Chief of our organisation.

His Excellency advised that “he sees the work of ACHRE as complementary to his responsibilities as Governor-General and to themes of personal interest to him”.

At the same time, ACHRE expresses its gratitude to the outgoing Governor General Her Excellency Dame Quentin Bryce for being the Patron in Chief for the Council for the last few years and for her on-going commitment to human rights. ACHRE wishes her well in her retirement.
