We have learnt with sorrow that on board Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 there were many researchers and advocates travelling to an international conference on combating AIDS/HIV in Melbourne. I have also learnt that among those confirmed dead was Dutch HIV researcher Dr Joep Lange who, as I understand, was a friend of yours.
Please accept our thoughts and words of deepest sympathy on behalf of the ACHRE. We wish to commemorate those murdered in such senseless act of violence and acknowledge their contribution to the humanity. We will remember them as men and women who had dedicated their own lives to saving the lives of others.
