Mr Chander Khera of ACHRE along with other interested NGOs attended a debrief by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) on the 12th Australia- Vietnam Human Rights Dialogue.
The dialogue was held on 14 August 2015 in Canberra. Vietnamese delegation was quite large that showed seriousness on part of Vietnam to engage international community on human rights. The legation was interested in collaborating with Australia on a range of treaties related to human rights and learning from Australia’s establishment of Human Rights Commission. A study group preceded the dialogue. Site visits and meetings with NGOs went well. Australia plans to pursue study visits including site visits by the Australian delegation at the next dialogue.
