Mr Chander Khera of ACHRE along with other interested NGOs attended a meeting with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) on the forthcoming Australia-Iran Human Rights Dialogue. The meeting was chaired by Dr Lachlan Strahan, First Assistant Secretary, Multi-lateral Policy Division.
DFAT advised that the dialogue was only second since the last that was almost 15 years ago. Therefore, Australia welcomes this opportunity to renew the dialogue and hopes it would happen every year. The dialogue would be in the week of 21 August 2017. A final agenda is still under preparation, however, DFAT would debrief the civil society after the dialogue.
