ACHRE member Dr Yirga Gelaw Woldeyes chaired a vital Curtin University panel that commemorated Mandela Day. The panellists included notable African Australian figures including Hon. Ayor Makur Chuot MLC, Member for North Metropolitan Region, Parliament of Western Australia; Mr Noël Zihabamwe, Founder and Chairman, African Australian Advocacy Centre; Ms Pearl Proud MAICD, Council Member, Edith Cowan University; and Ms Matshepo Molala, PhD Candidate, Western Sydney University and Board Member. After quoting inspirational words from Mandela, Dr Woldeyes reminded the audience that Africa had numerous leaders like Mandela whose contribution for racial and colonial freedoms are not widely recognised.
