David Hirsch is a Sydney barrister who has held many voluntary positions including as executive member and then chair of the Sydney Peace Foundation (2003-2017) and president of the Rotary Club of Sydney (2022-23). He is an ambassador and facilitator with the Institute for Economics and Peace. Since 2024, he has presented Understanding Australian Law to retirees and seniors through the University of the Third Age (U3A) and the Workers Education Association (WEA) including lectures on international law and human rights. So far over 600 people have taken this course. He is planning to design and present further courses for high school teachers who teach Legal Studies and Civics.
