Peace Day at Cabramatta High School

On the 11th of November 2022, Cabramatta High School commemorated Peace Day on school grounds once more after two years of restrictions from Covid-19. Peace Day is a tremendous and exceptional day dedicated to commending the winner of the Sydney Peace Prize which was the Uluru Statement From The Heart for 2022. With official members of the Uluru Statement From The Heart guiding Cabramatta students about the importance of their message and endless spectacle performances, Peace Day was indeed an impactful, educational but also entertaining day.

In the early morning, Cabramatta High School gratefully welcomed prestigious guests as part of the official party such as Kylie Captain the Aboriginal Education and Wellbeing Advisor, Susan Biggs, Executive Director of The Sydney Peace Foundation, Deborah Summerhayes, the Executive Director of the Metropolitan South West School Performance Directorate, Pat Anderson AO, leader of the Uluru Dialogue, Bridget Cama and Allira Davis who is part of leading the Uluru Youth Dialogue Sergeant, Sean O’Malley and Lieutenant Gary Jones. These influential people gave various speeches of guidance and raised awareness for their cause. The Uluru Statement From The Heart seeks to recognise, act upon and improve the lives and representation of the Indigenous community and is thus, a vital cause for our school to stand alongside with our vast diversity of students. With the cause raised, Cabramatta High School emphasizes the importance of acceptance and equity to achieve more inclusivity for our students and spread that message beyond school grounds.

Overall, Peace Day is always an exceptional event for Cabramatta High School due to the wide range of renowned guests to raise awareness of serious causes and also the range of entertaining performances. To be part of such an event is truly astonishing and it is safe to say Cabramatta High School will continue this grand tradition for years to come.
