Partnering with RIAA for HRE Training Workshop

Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) partnered with ACHRE to deliver a ½ day training workshop.

In Melbourne, the RIAA team came together for a workshop that encouraged us to explore, discuss and challenge our thinking on a range of human rights topics. In this interactive session, we explored the foundations of international human rights frameworks, while also examining the complexities of their application in practice. We discussed the universality of human rights, competing rights and the challenges highlighted by human rights bodies in their implementation. A key focus of the workshop was the UN Convention on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), constitutional recognition and treaty discussions, First Nations rights in Australia, and the importance of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). Through small group discussions and practical scenarios, we reflected on how human rights considerations can be applied in real-world contexts and decision-making, underpinning our work. RIAA would like to thank Professor Linda Briskman and Professor Lynette Riley, from the Australian Council for Human Rights Education for facilitating the workshop and for sharing their knowledge. The session reinforced the importance of reflection, ongoing learning and meaningful engagement. #humanrights #responsibleinvestment #indigenousrights #firstnations
